Chief Marketing Officer, Variety
Dea Lawrence serves as Chief Marketing Officer at Variety. In this role, Dea is responsible for pushing Variety’s global branding and communications strategy. She is a highly experienced, solution based, sales and marketing leader who knows how to monetize and market companies, from start-ups to traditional corporations. Her area of expertise is rich including SaaS platforms, ad serving, programmatic video, media, dynamic creative strategies, data targeting, ad network and publisher direct sales across video, mobile, tablet and desktop.
Dea took on the CMO role at Variety in 2015, having held the position of VP of Digital Sales and Marketing for Variety from 2001 to 2008. While in this role, Dea was an integral part of creating, developing, and growing Variety’s business, as well as building and implementing the sales strategy for all online advertising sales. In addition to her work at Variety, Dea has held a series of executive sales and marketing positions in advertising technology and media, including working as the VP for the Western Region at TubeMogul and heading sales for the western sales for AT&T AdWorks. She served as VP for PointRoll/Gannett, executing numerous marketing campaigns for Fortune 500 brands, exponentially increasing PointRoll revenues.
Dea is a graduate of the Catholic University of America. She contributes regularly to industry publications and speaks on panels related to the advertising space.
