Identifying High-Value Actions and Driving Conversions with Real-World RewardsAnkur Prasad
09:00 - 09:30The Auditorium
The mobile engagement market is expected to grow ten-fold to around $40 billion over the next five years. Marketers and app developers are starting to realize that investing in acquiring users in no longer enough. When 25% of app users stop using an app after just one session and nearly 90% churn within a month, any money spent without having the right customer experiences and marketing programs in place to engage and retain users is money poorly spent. Top companies understand the importance of getting customers to complete high-value actions such as paying for a subscription or being a multi-year customer. Join us to learn how Amazon Moments helps mobile developers keep their users engaged in a fun way and completing high-value actions with real-world rewards. We will share best practices, case studies and tools you can use to help your businesses.

As the manager of the national lab onboard the International Space Station (ISS), the ISS U.S. National Laboratory has been providing nontraditional users with access to this one-of-a-kind platform for discovery science and technology development focused on utilizing space environment to benefit life on Earth. At the forefront of an emerging economy in low Earth orbit and beyond, the ISS National Lab is expanding demand for space-based research and development (R&D) by nontraditional users from a wide variety of sectors (for example, P&G, Target Corporation, large pharmaceutical companies, Apple, etc.). How does one evaluate the success as well as the short-term and long-term value of projects using novel platforms in yielding economic, scientific, and social benefits to humanity and a return on investment? The project valuation process that the ISS National Lab uses to assess its broad R&D portfolio sheds light on this important question. In this presentation, Miki will explore how fostering a culture of innovation requires balancing in-depth scientific knowledge with strategic foresight in identifying industrial opportunities.

Redefining Industries Jieun Chung
15:20 - 15:50The Auditorium
For the most part, the way we frame industries and identify competitors in the market has been straight forward. But, with emerging technologies and new business models, we are entering a period of uncertainty around what industries companies actually sit in, and who their real competitors are. Take retail as an example. Customers’ shopping needs continue to evolve, and in response, companies are offering innovative commerce models and shopping experiences. 20 years ago, customers had to visit local stores to buy goods - then the internet created Amazon. Now we get items delivered to our door within 2 hours with just several clicks on our smart phone. We may need to reconsider the definition of retail when voice, AR/VR and AI/ML are going to create next gen shopping experiences completely different from how we shop today. How should companies think about their boundaries in the face of rapid innovation? How can they harness innovation to stay relevant even as their industries shift?
