VP, Business Strategy, Operations & Technology, NBCUniversal
When Monica Williams was recruited into what is considered one of the most highly selective and challenging Fortune 100 leadership programs as a 22-year-old industrial operations engineering graduate, little did she know that within 13 years, she would be named among “Tech Women of the Year” by a leading business publication.
If you ask Monica about her journey from rookie to executive linchpin, she will take you through stories of transformation, technology innovation, enterprising strategy, nimble execution, and operational/service excellence. A recurring theme, however, is that there are no successes without an organizational culture that fosters data-driven decision making, the generous sharing of information, mutual respect, collaboration, personal growth, team engagement, and award-winning performance. This is where Monica excels—in not leaving culture to chance, but instead creating family-like environments that inspire and empower others.
Today, as the Vice President of Business Operations, Technology & Strategy for NBCUniversal’s Content Distribution Digital Products business, Monica is a member of a leadership team that has played a vital role in dynamic company growth over the past 8 years. Specifically, she has ushered the business into a new era of digital product innovation in alignment with growth strategy, supporting a multibillion-dollar annual revenue stream that continues to expand.
Throughout her career, Monica has drawn upon her classical business training, Six Sigma Black Belt, and entrepreneurial spirit to make an impact and navigate teams through ongoing change. Her scope of leadership accountability spans general/P&L management as well as the end-to-end business value chain, including product operations, manufacturing/production, supply chain/logistics, partnerships, sales/marketing, business development, technical product R&D and engineering, IT, enterprise and direct-to-consumer solution delivery, and talent management.
