Global Head of Innovation, Diageo
Michael Ward has been Global Head of Innovation at Diageo since 2014, leading Diageo’s Innovation strategy, and a team of 150+ innovators across research and development, marketing, finance, commercial and supply. Diageo is the global leader in beverage alcohol with over 200 brands, operating in 180 countries. Michael has a deep passion for innovation and has developed and implemented a new consumer-centric innovation framework for Diageo focused on recruitment, re-recruitment and disruption.
Over his 23 years at Diageo, Michael spent over a decade in the Diageo North America business where he eventually assumed the role of General Manager of North America Innovation in 2011. He previously held marketing roles in the US leading Smirnoff, the Ready to Drink category, Ales as well as the Guinness brand portfolio in Canada. Prior to Diageo Michael spent 5 years at Procter & Gamble. He holds an HBA in Economics and English from Queen’s University in Kingston Canada.
