Global Head of Marketing & Segments, Vodafone

Mr. Brajesh Bajpai holds a master’s degree in business management from XLRI Jamshedpur, India where he was the gold medalist (1996). He is a civil engineer from BITS–Pilani (1992) who is an Ashridge Accredited Coach and holds a diploma in coaching from university of Cambridge (2016). He is pursuing his second master’s from Ashridge, HULT University in executive coaching (2016-2018).

In his role as global head of marketing & segments, he is based out of Vodafone’s headquarters in London. He is responsible to lead the marketing function across all countries of Vodafone through segment-management & insight based thinking. He moved to London a couple of years back in the role of global head of mass market, where he managed the strategic roadmap for one consumer segment which contributed over £ 9.0 billion to Vodafone’s turnover. He was earlier heading Vodafone India’s most profitable circle in Gujarat, where as CEO of Gujarat circle he oversaw a business of £ 500 Million and lead a team of over 700 direct and 5,000 indirect associates. Before Gujarat, he was CEO for Vodafone’s Assam and North East circle, based in Guwahati, where he turned the business profitable within 4 years of the circle launch. He started his journey with Vodafone in Delhi in 2009.

Prior to Vodafone, he worked for Marico International from 2006 onwards. As the country head – Egypt, he was instrumental in acquiring two top Egyptian hair care companies & setting-up a greenfield project at Cairo. His role was subsequently elevated and expanded to the position of region head – for the entire Middle East and North Africa region (MENA) in 2008, where he oversaw operations for 18 countries based out of Dubai.

Mr. Bajpai started his post MBA professional life with a successful and multifaceted decade long tenure with Pepsi. He was part of the first batch of management trainees for PepsiCo in 1996. He held various sales, marketing, operations, franchise & brand management positions with PepsiCo International. He also managed the 7up brand during his tenure & his last assignment with PepsiCo was regional manager – western India for Frito Lay.

Early in his life he also ran an entrepreneurial venture of construction and architecture for 2 years.

His other interests include coaching, literature, writing, history, philosophy, travel, theater, culture, food, psychology and photography. He has written and published articles in leading magazines and newspapers. He contributes regularly to the virtual world through his book reviews and writings on a variety of topics. Another passion of his is coaching & developing leaders and conducting workshops around topics of leadership, marketing and consumer behavior. He is frequently invited as a guest speaker at conferences, academic institutes and leadership summits.
